Three times a year the Topanga Symphony performs FREE concerts at the Topanga Community House to the Santa Monica Mountains community. The talented musicians perform a classical repertoire with technical perfection and emotion. In order to keep producing these amazing free concerts, the Topanga Symphony solicits donations and applies for grants. Another way funds are generated is with the Annual Topanga Symphony Fundraiser.
The Topanga Symphony Board of Directors is again providing an opportunity to see and hear some of the finest artists perform exceptional music in an intimate and private setting. We invite you to the 3rd Annual Fundraiser for the Topanga Symphony on Sunday afternoon, October 9th from 2:00 – 5:00 PM at the beautiful private Topanga hilltop home of Catherine McClenahan. The house has sweeping canyon views and will be an inspiring location to enjoy chamber music by some of our amazing Topanga Symphony musicians. The Fundraiser will also include a special vocal performance by Catherine McClenahan.
The classical music will include works by Shostakovich, Kessler, Stanley and famous others. The performers will include Topanga Symphony principal clarinet Jim Stanley, our Music Director/Conductor and cellist Jerome Kessler along with pianist Theodora Primes and flutist Susan Stanley. The Topanga Symphony Quartet including Kathrine Shaw and Robert Ryemon violin, Barry Brisk, viola, Gavin Koon, cello will play music by Beethoven and Boccherini.
There will be a Silent Auction organized by Arthur Nissman that will feature art pieces from local Topanga artists from the Topanga Canyon Gallery along with valuable gift certificates from Topanga businesses and many other unique items. Gourmet hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be served before the concert and during intermission.
